my holiday!

my 2 months of holiday ended lu!!! at the last weekend of my last week of holiday, i tot i was gonna blog about how my holiday was filled with work and thesis preparation and teman-ing grandma, the not so fanciful stuffs...

then, Soo Ann called me on Merdeka morning, few minutes after i've woken up. she asked me to board a plane with her the very next morning, to go on 3-day trip!

her parents had air tickets to fly to Langkawi from 1st til 3rd September, but last minute they couldnt go. so they gave her the tickets, and she had to find a company. sigh...i was actually a 2nd choice...cos apparently she scrolled down her handphone address book, and she forgot that Prabani was back in M'sia (although she was at Praba's bday party just the night before) so she reached S and my name was there *big disappointed sigh*

kekeke ok la, her version of the story was, she knew most of our gang started class ady, and she needed someone who could pass her their photostat IC asap. she was working in Kinrara Golf Club, so she called me knowing i could meet her. and guess what? the best thing was...although officially my semester starts on 2nd Sept, my class starts only on 4th! *HOORAY*

I had to pick my dad from Westin, so i met her parents in Brickfields to pass them my IC. within 2hrs after i was told of the trip, i was all set to fly off!

So before noon the next day, these 2 hot chicks landed in the land of the eagles!

DSC04306

boy oh boy, we sure felt as free as eagles!

even before we walked out of the airport, we've already gotten ourselves a super good car rental deal! RM90 for a power-steering Proton Saga, from noon of 1st Sept til 4.30pm of 3rd Sept *pheweet* we jump into our car, and we're off! first destination...find a roof above our heads!

hahaha yeah we've got no hotel reservations, no itinerary planned, no car rental arranged, no tour guide, NOTHING. all we had was a detailed but faded map of Langkawi. that also thanks to Sel, who got a bagful of Langkawi information from her Sayangkin. all Soo Ann prepared was her luggage of high heels, skirts, and ok la, free airplane tickets =) (i'm seriously just kidding...thanks Annie for this amazing trip!). Langkawi is really really so breath-takingly beautiful...

DSC04312

we hit Pantai Cenang, cos its the street filled with cute seaside chalets and cute, young angmohs. at least that was how it looked like when i was in Langkawi last December. this time, the street was burning hot and eerie-ly empty. every motel, hotel and resort which we walked in had empty rooms. then we realized something...its the 1st day of fasting...and Langkawi is mainly populated by Muslims...and usually this time of the year is the lowest of the low season *omg* well, the good part is, we've got discounted rate for all hotel and car rental. the bad part is, well, we're traveling on a very quiet island.

prices of rooms were really cheap...like RM40 a night...but always ALWAYS check the room before booking cause...

DSC04318

its like a scene from Japanese horror films...think of Dark Water...*shudders*

in the end, we settled for this hotel

DSC04321

DSC04324  DSC04323

RM70 a night, in a hotel which was built only a year, not bad bargain eh...

first place we visited is the place most locals agree to be worthy of visit...

the view up there is amazing..

after that we went down, this happened:

Ann: hey, got rabbits and deers! lets go in and feed them!

Sel: Ok!!! Awww....they're so cute!

*both entered the compound*

Ann: *screams* ahhh!!! Sel! the deer is coming towards me!!!

Sel: no, don't worry, it doesn't bite. Come, lets buy food to feed them

*Sel buys 2 packs of carrot sticks*

Ann: oh my god! they're all coming towards me! *throw her carrot strands far far away*

Sel: Soo Ann! don't throw la!!! *take Soo Ann's strands and feed rabbits*

DSC04365

kekeke im really so mean, but this part is true! Soo Ann was the one who wanted to enter, then she got scared!

that night, after a refreshing bath and vain make-up, these 2 pretty gals are ready to hit the pubs. you know, hit the beach clubs, get some good music, sip our drinks while feeling the sea breeze and listening to the waves...

 DSC04397  DSC04393

haha, truth is, since we landed on the landed til we returned to hotel, our disappointment never stopped growing bigger. even our trip to Kuah town to buy chocolates and try seafood dinner was a disaster. first, it rained so heavy on our way there. then, we couldn't find the seafood restaurant that was recommended. next, our car ran out of petrol, and the petrol station we stopped by was struck by lightning, so their computer system went KO. we almost had wafer snacks in the car as dinner.

when we finally got petrol and went to Kuah town, we found half the shops were closed. we simply stopped by any restaurant, and realized that seafood in Langkawi is 3 times more expensive than KL! WTH!!!

as the rain slowed, we managed to chocolates. that made everything better. Soo Ann's reaction was like mine, when i came to Langkawi last December. gosh, she really would have bought the entire shop if she could afford it!

we went back to Pantai Cenang, we didnt give up our dream of beach club, so we went into an Irish pub called Debbie's place. it was the place with most people. in the end, it was a good plan, cos more and more people came long, mostly ang mohs, and we made friend with Harry. he was originally from Australia, but is now living in Langkawi, and fish for a living.

we went back to bed feeling happy again =)

next morning, we had breakfast by the beach! we tarpau breakfast from a mamak =)

for the 2nd day, we went to visit Awana Porto Malai!

DSC04415

as usual, Soo Ann looks out for these things... >.<

DSC04420

after Awana, we went to Tanjung Rhu! i tell you, this place is seriously a secret beach only the rich knows of, its so freaking beautiful and peaceful!

introducing, Tanjung Rhu Resort!

beautiful...just beautiful...i almost wanna change my future plan for an oversea honeymoon trip to a local Langkawi trip..ALMOST only...

we heard news from the bartender in Debbie's Place that there is a Ramadhan Bazaar near the airport. Since we really haven't had much good food in Langkawi, and since we're really craving to see some sort of crowd, so we decided to check it out

DSC04475

as Soo Ann says, it feels like the whole Langkawi population was missing from our eyes because they all gathered at this place! craziness i tell you! and the more people that came, the more Soo Ann and I felt awkward! we were the only Chinese there! hahaha! but we didn't care, the smell and the variety of food was so so tempting! we had dinner plans, but we just HAD to grab something. in the end, we each had a piece of roast chicken...yum yum yum...the oil dripping from it, the slightly burnt skin, the aromatic smell of spices...

that night we went for dinner at place called Hideout. and gosh, it was superbly hidden! it was inside the village, pitch dark with no road lamps, guarded by a cow at the outside, and a "Trespassers will be shot" sign at the entrance. we were so so afraid to enter...

but once inside...

they have ornaments and pieces that TGI Fridays would die for!!!

Hideout is run by Char, a Muslim Thai lady, her husband and her son. Char was really so hospitable. and apparently Hideout was so isolated because they mainly serve old friends, like an exclusive club. after a superb dinner of Spicy Barracuda and Chicken with Cashew nuts, hehehe, its time for night activity again!!! this time we decided to check out Awana's lounge. the view was so beautiful in the morning we're sure it looks good at night. also, they had live band, so of cos we wanna check it out lor

DSC04487

initially the place was really quiet and raining heavily outside. then, guess what? we met Harry! he turned up with 2 of his friends. They were Philippino girls, part of a band performing in Berjaya Resort. after awhile, the singer at Awana's lounge (in pic above) named Sasha, and the keyboard-ist, came along to join us. it was so cool getting to know the lives of band performers!

next morning, we had breakfast in Breakfast Bar, recommended by Char. she said it was run by a German guy, we were excitedly craving for German sausage for breakfast, but sigh, who says German owner must serve German food?

after a filling stomach, its time to burn some calories...

welcome to Seven Wells Waterfall. no, welcome to the steep STEEP stairs leading up to the Telaga Tujuh waterfall

DSC04494

its seriously tiring...

DSC04492

but....TAHDAH!!!

 DSC04499

DSC04505

so beautiful right!!!

kekeke. right before we leave this island, we must end it with a bang! so we came here for lunch...

DSC04510

Char said many of her customers said the food is good, and price not expensive. the deco is really nice...
