Sel's Story: i know my intentions

People always judge, especially when one is not keeping a low profile

No matter how nice I treat people, human being human will see the negative side, will speak of untrue rumours, will judge me badly

When people pass remarks from all sides, its really important for me to know what I want and why i do what i do

I teach because I want my students to learn

I make use of our small age gap to relate to my students

I connect with students at a more personal level because I wanna gain their trust in order for them to share their issues with me

See, I believe that everyone has a hidden potential in them to succeed in life, but some hasn’t seen their own potential, some are distracted by other worries adolescence bring, some hasn’t found sufficient motivation to want to achieve more. If they feel that no one in this world care about them, I hope they realize they’re wrong

In the beginning I felt insulted that others judge me without really getting to know me. But with this anger also got me reflecting about why i do what i do, and now i know my intentions better. I have done nothing against my conscience, i have not misuse my position to achieve personal interests, I am aware that i put students’ benefits above my own

Of course, there are also those who appreciates my good intentions, and respect me for that. And I appreciate you all for knowing me for who i am inside =)

So what’s up with my life?

The new semester not only brings about more teaching hours (I’m teaching Psychology AND Study Skills this sem, compared to just Study Skills last sem). I am also involved with preparing short courses and supervising students running a PR event. It’s busy, but I love the excitement that new challenging tasks bring. I am not only setting assignment and exam questions, I get to be involved in designing the syallabus of new short courses. Such a satisfying sense of achievement….I’m addicted to this kinda “high”

Ok work aside, I said goodbye to Dear almost 2 weeks ago

That’s all he brings for his 2-month trip to China. I don’t wanna imagine the weight of my luggage if I were to go that long @.@

I also said bye to Keith, who left to UK to pursue his Masters

And I hung out with my medic-woman bestie!

One night I got a phone call from this Praba woman. The phone conversation went like this:

Sel: (sees caller ID before answering phone) Hello Praba~!!!

Prabz: (not even a tiny greeting) You and Nat are taking me out for breakfast tomorrow

Sel: (too used to this woman to be dumbfounded) Oh…so you are ORDERING us to take you out now huh?

Prabz: Yes I have to, else dunno when you all are free to meet me

=.=

LOL. I love this monkey of a girl! She obviously has so much love for me too right? >.<

So we 3 girls went dimsum in Connaught on a Sunday morning! Since Prabz COMMANDED Nat and I to meet her, so we both very gungho and arrived at her place at 9am…only to find Praba looking like this…

Praba: I said to meet for breakfast, I was actually thinking we’ll meet at 11am. Why la you all meet at 9am?

Nat: Cos you said you want dimsum! 9am is considered very late ady…people eat dimsum at 6am so that its fresh!

Praba: *zzz*

And I went for HMC leadership camp again. I mentioned that I went Gopeng to supervise the Foundation students participating in their compulsory leadership camp last semester, so this time i went again to supervise a different batch of students

Cindy Joon was facilitating this camp! ^^ Yes yes, I was in specs most of the time cos one side of my contact lens got washed off during white water rafting. Go ahead and call me Aunty…*sniff*

And lastly, I was posing for camera all over HELP’s upper foyer for some HELP’s promotional purpose (apparently to be featured in doctorjob but probably not gonna use any at all). But Radin, Joanne and i were having fun doing non-academic stuff for awhile hehe
