Alamanda Day Out

Yesterday I was chatting with Keith, who’s doing his Masters in UK right now. I mentioned that I spent my entire Friday in Alamanda last week.

His reaction surprised me.

Keith: What’s Alamanda?

Sel: Huh! Err…its a shopping mall in Putrajaya…

Keith: What kinda name is that…Alamanda…i bet the owner named the mall after his children, Albert and Amanda

Sel: I think its more likely that his kids are named Ali and Amalina

*******

Anyway, Alamanda Putrajaya was really generous to provide a group of bloggers an entire activity-packed day, FOC! We were well taken care of from breakfast all the way to evening movie!

First up, we arrived at 9.30am and were treated to free breakfast at Old Town Coffee.

On top of free breakfast, we had lots of free goodie bags each!

Bloggers are more excited to take PICTURE of goodie bags than to take the ACTUAL goodie bags =.=” From the 2 pictures above, obviously I joined the “blogger” category… >_<

After breakfast, we were shipped off in a readily waiting bus to our next destination. This bus is superbly well-equipped in protecting its passengers…

It has special protection for Orang Kurang Upaya…

IMG_0910

This OKU sememangnya very contented with his secure waist belt ^o^

You’ll know that a group of bloggers are passing you by when they start taking pictures ALL the time, of ALL the things they see, at ALL the weirdest positions

After passing by redundant roundabouts and car-less highways and beautiful government buildings, we finally arrived at our destination…

IMG_0923

Putrajaya Challenge Park! (And restless, bus-bound bloggers begin taking jump shots =.= )

IMG_0931

We had free rock climbing session!!!

After burning up those Old Town nasi lemak calories, it was time to refuel!

To get to our lunch place, we had to go through a maze…

After trekking through all these amazing architecture, we arrived!!! This is actually the Pullman Hotel and Resort, such amazing design! And we were treated to buffet lunch at P’s Cafe.

IMG_0952

The food in P’s was nothing too great, I have tasted better buffet in KL, but the ambience was fantastic. Both inside and outside the cafe offers this sense of peacefulness, its hard to believe we’re actually still within Selangor state

After lunch, we were taken on a tour around Pullman Hotel. Right at the reception desk, the bloggers were attracted to one particular spot on the floor…

IMG_0958

There was an area where instead of marble flooring it was a see-through glass that shows the lower level

IMG_0961

Oh no! Someone’s taking up-skirt shots!

We toured the swimming pool…

IMG_0969

..and the gym.

IMG_0985

You can tell which bloggers take more pictures than the others, by looking at their arm strength. Some bloggers carry all their camera gadgets till bicep berketul ketul…

IMG_0989

…while some cameras didn’t serve an add-on weight training purpose. Teehee!

IMG_0990

No la, Jeremy had gaya too…

IMG_0991

We also toured some of the hotel rooms…suddenly got Ms Malaysia photoshoot session in the middle of our tour…

IMG_0996

Next up! We went for water sports!

Its like water-skiing, but we ride on a tube rather on a pair of skis. But it works the same way…the motorboat sped up real fast, and make abrupt turns until we were thrown off our tube. SHIOK!!!

Again, Alamanda took great care of us, providing us with good food after our challenging activity. We had light refreshments awaiting us at Manhattan Fish Market!

Our day ended with free Avatar movie, sponsored by GSC.

AvatarPoster_000

Oh the movie was great. I am no fan of animated movies or fantasy type of storyline, but I have to say, Avatar is really fantastic. Great animation and acceptable storyline, despite not realistic.

Would you consider Putrajaya as a peaceful, green town, or would you call it an underutilized, dead town? I had always enjoyed seeing the buildings, lamp posts, bridge, and lakes there. The attention paid onto small details like design of a lamp post is worth complimenting. I am already thinking of planning a cycling activity with my ex-students…seeing that Putrajaya Challenge Park do offer cycling activities. Thank you Alamanda for providing us an awesome day out!
