I finally took the step

I've always complaint to Dear how bored I feel, because this semester I have 5 days of classes a week, but my day starts at 6am and ends by 10am. Yeah...I go all the way to college to attend 2 hours of lecture, then I'm done =.= The car definitely burnt more calories than I did

So, I had been thinking of getting a part-time job for awhile. I mean, I have few hours to spare after class, rather than going home to continue my sleep at 11am, as if I had never woke up at 6am at all....fuh....my eyebags disappeared but my spare tires produced even more baby spare tires....

But I kept thinking twice about working. I mean, what if suddenly assignments start piling up? What if I overestimated my free time? What if...what if...what if.... so I kept complaining about my over abundant free time, I do nothing but whine and complain to Dear...

Today...finally I put my complains into action...I found a job!

I'm gonna be a part-time waitress in Haagen Dazs, Bangsar Village!

I found the job opening on www.yourparttime.com, which I applied, and then I went for an interview today. Haagen Dazs must be pretty understaffed, or they must have really been impressed by my resume

When the lady said that working hours is flexible, no fixed shift hours, but minimum 4 hours a day, so I said I'll come in 12pm til 5pm. Her eyes went big, and she said "5 hours only? Until 5pm only? But our shop closes at 10pm wor..." I looked sheepishly and said "Hehe...can't..."

So she wrote down 12 to 5pm. Then I said "I was thinking of working 3 days a week" and again she went "3 days only? Monday, Wednesday and Thursday only?!!! What about weekends?" So I sheepishly said "Erm no, family ogligations..." She looked at me disbelievingly, so I added "Gotta study too..."

So she wrote them down too...

So, she asked "If we do decide to hire you, which outlet are you interested to work at?" which I replied "I was thinking of Mid Valley? Cos its nearest to my uni can get here after class" (Main reason is because there's California Fitness in MV mar, can workout and shower before or after work, and can use their camera-surveillance locker to keep my laptop and stuff). But she said "Mid Valley no opening at the moment, how about Bangsar Village?"

Lol. I like the way she put it "If we do hire you..." because it implies that she must have mentally decided that I was worth it to hire even though my "requirements" were beyond her expectations. Else, why would she discuss such detail procedures like which outlet to work and stuff? (Ok fine fine, I'm over estimating myself....hmph....)

Anyway, she went to make a call to Bangsar Village outlet, and she came back asking me when I could start. Muahahahahaha~ I told you she wants me!!!

Well people, I will be starting work as a waitress in Haagen Dazs, Bangsar Village branch, every Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 12pm til 5pm. I haven't been told about no chatting with friends during work hours, but I am quite sure I do not get staff discount for ice-cream, so don't come find me just to get discounted ice-cream ok? Come find me because you really miss my company ok?

Ok la ok la, I was bluffing, I'm not sure about any staff discount la. Will let you all know when I find out la *grumble grumble*

On a different topic....Chinese New Year coming!

But besides the holiday I don't feel excited at all. Ok I'm excited to wear my new red dress and new pink Nike shoes, but I don't feel excited thinking about the heat and boringness of Taiping. I'll be all dressed up in new clothes, new underwear, and new shoes but end up sitting on the floor, sweating and munching groundnut in my aunt's kampung house *sigh*

My CNY had been exactly the same ever since I was born. On CNY eve, my family will be back in Taiping to have reunion lunch at Mom's side, followed by reunion dinner at Dad's side. When we were children, my cousins and I would play hide and seek or firecrackers after dinner, but now that we're grown up, my cousins retreat into their rooms after dinner @.@ The older I get, the earlier I sleep on CNY eve. How sad right?

When I was younger, I would wake up very early on CNY morning because I was so excited to dress up. As I grow older, I wake up because the sun was shining into my eyes, and I lazily dragged myself to bathe. Despite the change in my level of enthusiasm, the procedures never changed. My cousins, uncle, aunty, brothers, Mom and Dad would queue up to bathe in the single toilet in Grandpa's bungalow. Then we'll have mee suah with red egg for breakfast. Someone will on the TV and play the CNY songs real loud, to signify that officially CNY celebration had started in this house. After collecting angpau, we'll all crawl back into doing nothing, until its time to visit my aunt.

Oh well, the main point of this celebration is not to excite me with different activities every year, but it is to bring the family together. I know that this once a year, my Grandpa is overjoyed because he can see his kids and grandkids gathering in front of him.

So, now, I can't wait for Chinese New Year!
