Hi people, I received this forwarded e-mail from my dad
A lady who is a department manager of a bank wrote this:
I was in a car accident on 15/11/2008 along the flyover coming up from the Federal Highway into Jalan Maarof, Bangsar. My car skidded and went over a road divider.
When I came to a stop a few minutes later 2 Malay guys - one driving a blue Satria and the other on a bike passed my car and stopped. They looked very decent - clean cut, well dressed like they worked in an office. Both approached me and asked in perfect English whether I was OK and whether I needed help. I declined of course as I had already called for help. They hovered for awhile and then went off. I decided then to get out of my car to check the damage and when I got out, the 2 guys reversed and came back . At first I thought they were nice guys and just wanted to be sure I was OK.Nevertheless, I ignored them and kept a distance. Then the drama unfolded.
The guy driving the Satria opened his car boot hand took our a pair of black pants which he then threw on the road behind my car.The motorcyclist then sat down on the divider and began to roll up his pants and took off his shoes and socks ! I saw that he had a scrapped knee which was rather red. Realizing then that something was very wrong, I asked the two guys while still maintaining my distance from them what they were doing . The motorcyclist then turned tome and said " You langgar saya tak payah bayar?"
I was shocked and told them no such thing happened and why they were doing this. The guy then said " Awak jangan biadap, sudah langgar saya nak marah saya !!"I quickly went back into my car and called the police. Call this Bukit Aman No. (03-22626555) - the response is fast. While waiting for help to arrive I kept praying for protection. The Police came within 5 minutes. BUT, you know, the police whom I thought were my heros also turned out to be crooks.
The 2 officers approached me and asked me what happened. while I related to them what happened one of them went to speak to the 2 guys who were still hovering around at the back of my car. The remaining cop asked me"Sekarang macam mana?"I said there was no way I could have knocked them as there was no evidence of damage to their vehicles or injury on them. The cop then asked me "Kerja di mana?"I told them I worked in a Bank and he said "Wah jadi you banyak wang!!!" Although on hindsight now it was a strange thing to say (at that point they were still my heroes) to which I responded that I am only a worker, I don't own the Bank so I don't have money ! He then walked to his partner and came back a few moments later and said to me " The guy claims I broke the side mirror of his car" He asked again "Sekarang nak buat apa?"
At this point I was furious and told him that we should all go to the Balai to make our respective reports. He kept quiet at my response . I then blurted out some names of ex-Bkt Aman Inspectors whom I happen to know and then he went to talk again to his partner and the next thing that happened, the 2 guys accusing me left the scene.I was just overcome with relief. By then my family had arrived to help.Little did I realize until much later that the 2 corrupt cops were in cohorts with the 2 Malay boys to extort some money from me.They let them go without my consent, did not even record their details or vehicle registration numbers. Nothing!!! Imagine the cops who are supposed to protect you are as dirty and corrupted as the crooks roaming our town!!!!
Now let me relate my own experience with cops
It happened in the McDonald's outlet in Equine Park. It was a stupid layout planning of McD's that this young Chinese guy used to his advantage. There was one common door that leads to the toilet. After passing that "toilet" door there are 2 separate doors, one "Gent" and one "Ladies".
So I needed to go to the toilet. As I was approaching the main toilet door, this guy entered before me, and he went into the Gents before I entered the Ladies. Inside the Ladies there were 2 cubicles - one to sit, one to squat. I noticed the door to the sitting cubicle was closed, so I entered the squatting one. As I was almost done pissing, I noticed a camera was slowly shoved under my cubicle door!
He must have purposely closed the door of the sitting cubicle, because it is more likely to take pictures of girls in squatting position. He could have entered the Ladies toilet from the Gents toilet and no one would have noticed, unless someone happens to come through the main toilet door.
I immediately pulled up my skirt and opened my door. I caught that Chinese dude by surprise. He immediately ran, and I ran after him, in my skirt and heels. I shouted to all the McDonald's customers (it was a packed McD's that evening) "Stop him! Stop him! He tried to take picture of me! STOP HIM!!!"
I was so so impressed by the helpfulness of Malaysians. Fathers with their wives and children, young men who were hanging out with their friends, and both my brothers started chasing after that guy. That guy ran til he lost his slippers, and he tried to hide in a snooker center nearby, but the Malay guys who were hanging outside the snooker center gave him away. I wasn't quick enough to run with the group of men, but when I reached the snooker center, that Peeping Tom had been apprehended by a group of angry men, men from the snooker center, men from McD. From what I heard from my brothers, he had been beaten up by these men too.
Anyway, both my brothers held this guy and we all walked to the police station, because it was so near. I thought, OK good, at least we caught the guy, now he can be punished for his actions. Well well well, I hoped too soon. We went to the Subang Jaya HQ, but we were asked to go to Seri Kembangan station to give report. When the police took Peeping Tom's camera, they wondered how to on that thing =.= Then, they found out that the battery was so weak it could not on. So they took the SD card out and read from the PC, but it found it to be empty
So, the police said they'll drive the Peeping Tom back to his house to get his battery charger. And they took hours to get to his house (which was 15 mins away from the station), and guess what? After they reached his house, the Peeping Tom told them that he had forgotten his house key...
Whatever it is, I didn't see the Peeping Tom until midnight, which was what, 4 hours since he was "sent" to his house? I was supposed to get a call from the police the next day, to be informed if the case managed to get into court. My dad tried to call the police the next day, he tried non stop and nobody picked up. Until now, I never hear anything about that case anymore
So much justice in our system, right?
While I'm on this topic, I wanna share something that Dear experienced few days ago. I'm copying this from Dear's blog:
2 days ago, down Kesas highway, on the way to KL, I was pulled over by some official looking polis at a road block near Endah Parade..
My 1st thought was about me talking on the phone while driving. Pandai la I happened to get a number of calls on the way down so...I pulled out IC, driving lesen as usual.
Cop comes over and signals me to open my window. I shall refer to him as Authoritative Senior Superintendent - High Officer (ASS-HO) for short.
ASS-HO : Adik tengok lesen.
Me : *hands over my IDs* Ada apa hal encik?
ASS-HO : You jalan 103 la dik. Sudah overshot limit. Tengok.
He then shows me his clipboard of victims car numbers. I looked at my car number on the board, then at all the other entries in disbelief. The A4 sized paper was just FILLED with car plate numbers. Loaded.
The ASS-HO then starts scribbling my details etc etc on the saman sheet.
Me : Jadi saman kena bayar berapa bang?
ASS-HO : Oh, ini speeding, saman RM 300.
If he could see through my shades, he'll see this -___-
Driving in Malaysia, obviously, there is one chance that one would think can get him/her out of this situation. But before one can make a move...
ASS-HO : So saman ini...ada problem tak?
This cop's the kind that wears a white uniform, with damn hell lot of medals stuck all over his body, arms and legs. Senior-like, tough cop. Then I looked at his name and number. So incredibly coincidentally, he had a sling-bag with the strap partially covering BOTH his name & number. So I don't get no ID.
Me : *act dumb* Kena bayar bayar la...bayar dekat mana?
ASS-HO : Dekat polis station..yang ada counter punya.
Then he asks me again:
ASS-HO : So.....Ada Problem Tak bayar saman ini??
See how he asked the same question twice. If I could see through HIS shades, I think I'd see this $_$
ASS-HO : (Ala Budak bodoh, tak faham ke ni)
Me : (Celaka u la) Oh..no problem..Rm300..terpaksa bayar lah..
ASS-HO : Adik kerja apa?
Me : Saya engineer ni...tengah hantar barang ke KL..103 tak cepat la..highway ma ini etc etc *complains*
The ASS-HO then looks over my car to see if there are more offenders to pull over. I think there were bigger cars than Waja, cos suddenly he came back to me and returned my IDs.
ASS-HO : Ok saya bagi peluang. Lain kali jalan plahan sikit ya.
Me : *takes back IDs* (then pulls out and drives 120km/hr into Seremban highway).
I know most people will try doing what most will do in times where the penalty is WAY beyond budget. But stand your ground when this situation arises. Cops didn't sign up for 'no-saman commissions' and don't deserve it. You can actually get off the hook. Just look-out for tell-tale signs like:
1. Partially / completely hidden IDs.
2. A huge list of other traffic offenders. Chances are these offenders will contribute to the 'pool' for you. I also heard that once the quota is full, they'll let you go more easily.
3. When you're asked twice or more if you're able to pay the saman (when the cop seems to be over-thoughtful).
4. Of course, if you're driving anything above 2000cc while sporting shades costing more than a half grand, chances are you're not gonna make it.
So people, what do you think? Do you feel more secure or more threatened when there are police around? Something to ponder... ^^
