Sel's Story: Finally…Mad2Max 2010 is here!

Hey people!

To some of you who had asked me how my job had been so far, you may have heard my response “I’m not only a lecturer, I’m also an event organizer now”. That’s because this year I’m in charged of HELP’s version of Amazing Race, called Rush 2010, that will be held in Australia. And to cover the obviously HUGE cost of organizing an event in Gold Coast, Australia, we have to raise funds.

One way that I am raising funds is through a hip hop event, called Mad2Max 2010.

WHEN??? 15th May 2010 (Saturday)

WHERE??? Kuala Lumpur Dancers’ Association

Our main objective for this event, besides raising funds, is to bring awareness to the general public that hip hop is not about clubs, drugs, alcohol and school dropouts, but its a very healthy and expressive art.

Dance Carnival – 11am to 4pm

This event begins at 11am with Dance Carnival, where you get to witness hip hop performances by famous crews, such as Urban Groove, Floor Fever, and 36 Carat, and you get to learn free hip hop moves from the guru themselves, one of them is Bobby Tan (judge of Astro’s Battleground and founder of Street Nation dance studio). If you guys are free, do drop by this Carnival cos ENTRANCE is FREE, you’ll get FREE GOODIE BAG, and most importantly you get FREE DANCE LESSONS!!!

Intercollege Hip hop Competition – 5.30pm till late

Later in the evening, the same dance hall will be transformed into a battleground, where 10 crews from various universities will fight it out to win RM1200 cash.

We are so lucky to get a whole panel of internationally-known hip hop celebrities to be our judges.

If you recognize any of these hiphoppers, if you have watched Astro Battleground and would want to watch these amazing moves with your own eyes, then you MUST COME for this event, because all 5 judges will be putting on special performances.

There will be ticket charges to watch the dance competition:

RM10 – free standing

RM15 – free seating

RM25 – VIP seat with privilege to meet, greet and dine with the hip hop celebrities

I’m so excited! My students and I have been planning this event since JANUARY…it’s gonna be a blast!!!
