Very Belly Good

You know how as kids, we use to chant “Veli good, chokulut”

Ok maybe that was just part of my childhood

Basically that phrase meant “padan muka/serves you right/lei tai sei”

But

This post is not about anything mean or nasty ok…

Its about a place! a restaurant in Sunway Mentari, actually

Last 2 thursdays, Darling and I were invited by Timothy Low, a food blogger that we met in Genting, to go for food review in BellyGood. Until we met Tim, I never knew that there are classifications of bloggers, and that Dear and I fall into “lifestyle bloggers” while Tim was a “food blogger” @.@

So Tim said that we should try to join his food blogger outtings, since he had tried our lifestyle blogger outting in Genting. Sounds like a different experience, so Darling EVo and I, EGo and Ellie, went Sunway Mentari after work (its after class for Ellie muahahaha)

(She’s giving the WTH look and thinking “Yeah yeah, I know Selena old ady, joined the other side of the world ady la…”)

So, BellyGood looked good from the outside…

The Tim Low who invited us and was so busy taking care of his guests that he didn’t had time to eat

Eve Fan, the restaurant manager, who briefed us of the history of the shop and their signature dishes

So, lets start of with the appetizers:

Bellygood_Makan_23

Smoked salmon salad (RM23.90) – the dressing was actually not bad

Bellygood_Makan_24

Baked portobello mushroom with bacon and cheese (RM12.50) – I didn’t get to try this

Bellygood_Makan_25

Pork cracklings (RM6.50) – Its fried pork skin people…frying fats in oil…

Bellygood_Makan_31

Chili munchies (RM6.50) – I like this! Grilled jumbo sausages sauteed with onion, garlic n chili

Next, we had our main course…

We had 3 types of pork tenderloin…with creamy mustard sauce, creamy brown sauce, or creamy hot sauce

Then came the pork ribs and pork belly (mixed platter, original grilled pork belly, original grilled pork ribs, baby back ribs)

This looked really good…the Sausage Platter (RM26.90)

Overall I had a good time there, because i get to meet so many people, new food bloggers (WilsonNg, Ken Chan, Jason Yong, Katheryna Teoh, Charlie Chia, Sue Lynn aka Bangsarbabe, Simon Seow, Rebecca Saw, Nicole) as well as known blogger friends (Marcus and Josh).

But I didn’t really enjoy my dinner because there were 20+ of us, and only 2 to 3 plates of each of the dishes. Perhaps there were more than the expected number of guests that turned up. But it was not fun at all to take only a small cut of pork tenderloin or jumbo sausage. I also don’t expect each person to be given one personal dish, cos i would be too full to try more than 2 dishes, but perhaps one dish shared among 4 pax would be better

The taste was good though. The sauces on the pork were pretty unique, and definitely flavorful not bland. BellyGood aims to provide non-halal food in a Western setting, catering to pork lovers, and it sure does offer a huge variety of pork dishes. The price is quite steep (RM25-30 per main dish) for that small serving. Chili serves bigger portion for that price eh?

After makan, again must CAMWHORE!!! Mali mali group chikchak!!!
